We’re supporting the next generation!
For the first time within the framework of the 4th International TUI Marathon Palma de Majorca there was a race specially for youngsters, namely the Kids Run. On the day before the marathon it was the kids turn to be the stars – the young racing runners had their own route in the Parc de la Mar below the La Seu Cathedral.

432 young runners took part and could show their prowess over three distances, each distance for a different age group between 4 and 12 years of age. And of course they were vigorously encouraged by parents, friends and relatives. Waiting at the finish for the young running stars, who put everything into the race, were prizes, medals and certificates. The race, which was supported by the Spanish partner INTERSPORT and took place on a wonderful sunny day, was a highly emotional event and included a great supporting programme with bouncy castles, snacks and a range of entertainment for the whole family.

A special prize was up for grabs for the Spanish up-and-coming runners: the Majorcan institute or school which registered the most runners was awarded a special prize in the form of a voucher which could be redeemed for the benefit of all the children at the school. The prize went to the “Corpus Christi“ school. The voucher was handed over by Sion Oliver, the owner of the Intersport shop.

And now to the future – we are looking forward to the 2nd Kids Run at the 5th TUI Marathon Palma de Majorca on 19 October 2008!

Runners: All children aged from 4 to 12 years

Route: 500m circuit track
The length of the course to be run depends on the year of birth of the child:

When registering fill out the form overleaf and have it signed by a parent or guardian before submitting it. Provided the registration form is correctly filled out and signed, the child will be issued with a start number and a voucher for the Kids Run T-shirt.

Attention: It’s worth registering early! The number of starting places in each age group is limited. Overall limit is 1,000 children

Parc de la Mar

For local children there is a special prize! The institution or school which has the most children registered will be awarded prize money which should be used for the good of the children in the area of sport.
