One more time now: City Trophy 2008 The 2008 sporting year Both at the Olympic Games in China as well as at the European Cup in Austria and Switzerland it is the team spirit that dominates. Naturally athletes battle for personal fame and success, but they are also part of a national team and as such will be battling for their country. The City Trophy the biggest German city team wins! TUI and RUNNING, the running magazine, are once again looking for the biggest German city running team which registers for the 5th International TUI Marathon Palma de Majorca. This team will end off the marathon day with an after-race dinner in an exclusive atmosphere at the invitation of the tour operator TUI. All the applications from runners from a single city or district will be collected by a city coordinator and then registered as a city team for the TUI Marathon. In recent years this has resulted in runners getting together to train in the run-up to the event and even organise group travel to Majorca a rather nice “side effect“. Review 2007 For the second time the City Trophy was awarded as a separate cup within the TUI Marathon. What we were looking for was the biggest running team from a single city that was registered through a city coordinator. The winning team is rewarded with an after-race dinner, made by TUI, as a culinary highlight to wind up the marathon day. Eight city teams registered for the event and following a final head-to-head race the City Trophy this year in the end went to the team from Essen, running under the management of city coordinator Leonard Doetsch. The team of 66 runners even received support from the city of Essen, was invited to a reception by the mayor and all the runners started off wearing T-shirts bearing the logo of their home town. ![]() More details will be published soon on this website and at www.running-magazin.de. |
